We all know that no one is perfect, in fact I would like to share a quote that I read somewhere long time ago…
I am careful not to confuse perfection with excellence. Excellence is something that I can achieve. Perfection is God’s business.
… but we all keep striving for perfection, of course it might be a step towards excellence. Thus there can never be the ultimate social network. But everyone is striving to be one.
There are many many features that are absent in one and present in the other or absent in all of them. One such feature is account reset. How many times have you abandoned and a created new account or wished to do it? I have done it. If devices can be reset then why not our accounts?
I have screwed up my Facebook account, I wanted to unlike all the pages that I have liked to reduce noise in my news feed, unjoin all the groups that people have added me to without my consent and much more. Reset not present, Result? Account deactivated.
How should the be reset?
Facebook: Pages, Groups, Friends, Activity, and finally the entire account.
Twitter: Mass unfollow, entire account.
Google Plus: Circles, (doesn’t everything revolve around circles?) entire account.
Same can be said for other social networks and other services like Gmail, yahoo mail, etc.
And when I say about entire account it means that entire data from that account should be deleted. If not immediately then after 18 months after as per the laws that I think are in enforcement. After all I have created that data and I should be able to decide what should happen with it.
If I have missed out anything, please add it in the comments.
